Waveny LifeCare Network is pleased to announce that our Therapeutic Recreation Leader Maria Franco-Gallagher has been awarded the Aging Services Award of Excellence, Honorable Mention, by Leading Age Connecticut.
Maria epitomizes the dedication, creativity, energy and care that drives Waveny’s greater good for our residents, patients, families and staff, often placing their needs above her own. This is Maria’s calling, not just her work.
Maria transitioned from our Adult Day Program to work with our residents during the most challenging days of Covid-19, donning PPE, courageously and attentively engaging our Memory Care Residents who were particularly affected by Covid’s forced isolation. Despite the dangers and daunting grief and loss, Maria continued to persevere and share moments of connection and joy with those in her care.
